Chocolate Anyone?

Posted by Leslie | It's a Coupon Life! | Monday 6 February 2012 3:25 pm

chocolate is healthy

This is kind of a post to touch base and survey some of you. Last week, I was introduced to Xocai which is a healthy chocolate. Yes, chocolate is healthy in moderation and dark chocolate is the best type for you which is where Xocai comes into the picture. What if you could eat 3 pieces of chocolate a day and ditch those prescription drugs you are taking to keep your body in check? What about drinking chocolate and losing weight? These are the benefits people using Xocai are seeing.

I am not trying to sell you on the idea, but wondering if any of this piques your interest. I am interested in signing up to sell and to eat it, but it isn’t exactly cheap. However, my coupon mind sees it as this, if Troy can use less prescriptions each month or less vitamins and supplements it may save us money in the long run. Is there a price on a healthier you?

Have you heard of Xocai before? Do you  want to know more? Would you be interested in buying it or selling? I would need 3 people to sign up under me to pay for my monthly supply :)

Please leave me your comments below. I am seriously considering joining, but really want to see what the interest is with my readers. Thanks for your help!

Win Jockey Sports Bra & Purex Crystals

Posted by Leslie | Giveaways!,Reviews | Friday 20 January 2012 7:06 pm

Wow, it has been awhile for a new giveaway! I think you will find that this one was worth the wait! What is January notorious for? Resolutions to lose weight, right? So, Jockey put out their new Tech Terry Performance Sports Bras for just this occasion.

Personally, I have never purchased a sports bra. I am just too cheap! Seriously, I never buy things for myself unless it is on clearance and I REALLY need it.

Back to the point… Sports bras are great for working out! I am a believer!  I am not one to wear a sports bra to the gym by itself, but if you are Jockey made a convenient key pocket for you. You may wonder what is so “Tech” about the Jockey Tech Terry Performance Sports Bras? Well, it has moisture-wicking technology which keeps you dry and cool. Who wants to feel sticky when they work out?! The most important thing to me was it is comfortable. I am nursing and I need a bra that is both supportive and doesn’t hurt me in sensitive places :) This one is very comfortable while on and working out!

Now, how do you keep a moisture-wicking bra to keep on wicking? Typically, you would not want to use a fabric softener on it. Fabric softeners are known to inhibit the drying or wicking ability in fabrics. This why you don’t use them on towels. (You knew that, right?!) Purex Crystals are a new way to keep all of your fabrics soft while they keep on wicking ;)

The Purex Crystals are 92% natural and they do not contain oils like other fabric softeners. This means they can be used on towels or your new Jockey Sports Bra! I was a little concerned trying out the Purex Crystals Tropical Splash. When you pour it out the scent is a bit over powering. However, once my clothes were washed and dried the scent was much mellower. The cool thing about using the crystals in the washer is they are supposed to infuse your clothes and they really did. While I wore my fresh clothes every so often I would get a hint of the Tropical Splash, but it wasn’t over powering. Troy didn’t even notice on his clothes, which I had been concerned about.

Here’s the fun part! For those of you interested in a new sports bra here is a 20% coupon for Jockey! Be sure to enter below to win your own Purex Crystals and Sports Bra!

Jockey and Purex provided free samples of their products so I could review them. However, all of the options expressed here are my own.

How to use coupons

Saving with coupons is great, but is it worth your time? Many will tell you that clipping coupons are a waste of time. Well, you can learn for yourself that it is worth it! Keep track of your coupon savings this year with my coupon spreadsheet. There is nothing better than to see all your hard work combined adding up all your savings! I wish I could tell you how much I saved last year, but I lost track shortly after I found out I was in my first trimester. This year I am determined to keep track of my savings so I can see how much I saved all year not just on a few receipts.

Things you may want to keep track of beyond what I have listed:
*Gift Cards: if you used a gift card that was free money so you saved even more
*Did you pay for your newspaper, coupons or inserts? That cost you a little out of your savings
*Clearance items don’t usually show on your receipt, but add to your overall savings so be sure to add it to your totals.
*Freebies have a retail value too!

Start the New Year off with It’s a Coupon Life Savings Spreadsheet! You can download it here as an excel file.

Organizing – For Everyday

Posted by Leslie | It's a Coupon Life! | Wednesday 28 December 2011 4:04 pm

Daily Chores List
I have never thought of myself as a list maker. I think it was the beginning of 2010 that I realized lists where something that I needed to survive everyday. I haven’t yet made it work for me though. I know there are people who have it all together and it comes naturally. That just isn’t me. I internally wish it was, but it just doesn’t come out externally. I know there are others like me otherwise there wouldn’t be some many cleaning books out there! Troy thinks it is crazy that someone would need to buy a book about cleaning or organizing!

In 2012, I want to be more organized so I have time for the kids, couponing, blogging and everything in between. I used to use FLYLADY which I really liked, but they just send too many emails and I just couldn’t keep up with it. So I am going to try Motivated Mom’s Planner this year. I have already printed Jan out and put it in a binder I am going to keep household items like my bills organized too (more on that in another post!).

Here is my planner:

What I like about Motivated Mom’s Planner is it has daily chores and chores for each day of the year that help you maintain your house and sanity (since it has hobby day and pamper day!). I can clean, but once I am done I want a break for a few days ;) Maintaining is my biggest issue. So I am hoping this planner will help with my maintaining issues this year!

They had different formats of the planner if you want to get it. They run $8 and you print them off yourself. Motivated Mom’s Planner.

Up Coming Posts about organizing bills, couponing, etc! Let’s have a great year in 2012!

Couponing Withdrawals!

How to use coupons
Agh, I am feeling so lost right now! A lot of you read my post a while about a my coupon break. I am sooo over being on a break! It is making me sick to see the deals that I am not getting. My cabinets so low and spending too much at the store. I am very frugal by nature. I am picky when I buy things and get it the cheapest I can. Right now, I am having this internal battle. I haven’t clipped a coupon since the end of Sept. Even though I am buying clearance, store brands etc… I know I could be saving sooo much more! I see the deals everyone is getting and I am left in the dust! We just moved around the house so I have a desk downstairs. I am hoping this new set up will give me an easier place to blog and coupon!

I am getting some posts together as well as myself together for next week. Last, week of the year. Time to get organized for 2012! Maybe I can help some of you while I help myself! Just a ramble post for this gloomy, at least here in TN, Thursday!
